Nawar Alnaddaf er en sanger og oud-spiller fra Syria, som har bodd i Norge siden november 2015. Denne reisen gjenspeiles i musikken hennes, der de arabiske røttene strekker seg ut til nye områder.
Emosjonell og sjelfull, hennes musikk består av flere musikkstiler og tradisjoner i sin egen unike blanding.
Hun har en bachelorgrad i arabisk musikk fra Syria, og studerer for tiden ved Norges Musikkhøgskole. Der utforsker hun møtepunktet mellom mikrotonalitet i arabisk Maqam-musikk og andre vestlige musikk uttrykk.
I tillegg til egne originale komposisjoner fremfører hun nye og improviserte tolkninger av annen musikk, fra arabisk folkemusikk, i tillegg til norske folketoner.
About
Nawar Alnaddaf is a singer and Oud player from Syria, residing in Norway since November 2015. This journey is reflected in her music, where her arabic roots reach out to new ground. Emotive and soulful, her project consists of combining several musical styles and traditions in her own unique blend. She recived her BA in Arabic music from Syria, and is currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music. There she explores the similarity between the use of microtonality in Arabic maqam music and different western musical expressions.

BIRDANIN is a mesmerizing genre-bending Arabic pop-rock band led by the singer and oud player Nawar Alnaddaf from Syria, now based in Oslo, Norway. With musicians from vastly different backgrounds, BERDANIN generate a magnetic soundscape with undulating grooves and soaring microtonal melodies. The vocals are emotive and tell tales of the soul, describing a long journey from the east to the west.
